I’ve been diving into Bethesda’s latest and greatest since the Beta and spoiler alert: I’m really enjoying it. I’ll save an in-depth review for another post (maybe) but for now, I want to focus on what I would consider to be an serious issue. Specifically, a carrying capacity bug that our Wasteland compatriot and survival game enthusiast, Ember stumbled into.

First, a little background. After running through one of the silos in preparation to nuke a fissure, Ember noticed that his carrying capacity had gone into the negative. DoctorWhorible commented that it was likely a temporary bug, even it did increase Ember’s carry capacity infinitely. Little did we know that it would stick around and allow for a few hilarious moments.

I saw users on Reddit talking about spam equipping pocketed armor to receive a negative carry capacity and gaming the system. The issue was players would need to repeat the glitch if they switched servers but not Ember! He was somehow able to maintain the glitch through server changes, death, exiting, etc which seems more reminiscent of the poor soul stuck in eternal god mode!

I know that players have legitimate gripes with the storage capacity for the stash. While I agree that it should be increased, the potential for inventories to run wild could present themself. This is obviously an extreme case but I cannot imagine the levels of hoarding that would occur if everyone had unlimited storage. Not only would this throw the in-game economy into disarray but could cause issues with how the servers respond to players in this state.

NSFW clip below!

So while I was genuinely grateful for the 100 grenades and Herculean carrying capacity of my compatriot, I’m glad this is unintended! How long will it take for Bethesda to patch the infinite carry bug among others?

Awesome!! What’s your schedule like to record the podcast this week? We use Uber Conference, which also has an 800 number, for recording the interview. Do you have an email address? That may be the easiest way to coordinate the interview, and have me send you the questions in advance, etc. Thanks.
